If you’ve landed a job for the holidays, congratulations! Seasonal jobs can be a great stopgap and some welcome income at what is, for many of us, an expensive time of year.
But what if you find that you really like the job and want to keep it even after the holidays?
First of all, have a discussion with your manager. Ask if that’s even a possibility, and determine what you need to do in order to increase the likelihood.
Next, let your colleagues know you want to stay. They can be your advocates, and can also let you know if there’s going to be an opening in an area you might not know about.
And finally, of course, focus on doing your work really well! Clarify expectations, go above and beyond, and pay attention to bringing your best self to the tasks. Because you’re a temp staffer, you have less luxury for bad days than your colleagues do, so pep talk yourself as needed to give your A+ work every day.
