Networking can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. And since networking online is our only option right now, it’s that much more important to be aware of your digital presence. Here’s a helpful graphic from LiveCareer below with tips on how to make the most of networking online. (The image shows up as tiny so you may have to download to make it legible. Sorry!) If you’re like me, you’re better at networking in person, but try not to let yourself get too discouraged by that. I belong to the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, and their networking events have, on balance, actually been a bit better because of the limits of online meetings. After an initial round of greetings, they cycle us through various breakout rooms, where we get to chat with smaller groups of people, so I think I’ve met more folks that way than I met through the in-person events, and there’s a lot less of me standing awkwardly around to figure out how to start a conversation!
