This is a question I get asked a lot, and the reason I rarely provide an answer is that it really depends. It depends on things like what you want to do, where you live, what salary ranges you’re seeking, and how you like to interact with job boards.
That said, here are boards I recommend frequently:
- For job-seekers in Colorado, I really like Andrew Hudson’s Jobs List
- Folks seeking jobs with meaning, have a look at Idealist
- People who want to work at a college or university should check out HigherEdJobs
- Those who have taken a break from paid work might have good luck with PathForward (be sure to check out their returnship match page!)
- Folks seeking jobs with ties to Japan can find unique listings at Ikigai Connections
- People looking for remote opportunities report some success on FlexJobs (paid membership might be required, but it’s cheap)
- Job-seekers who are interested in associations can try ASAE
- Women and female-identified candidates have several resources, including FairyGodBoss, Women of Color in Sustainability, and InHerSight
- Creative and tech types might want to check out Creative Mornings
- Lovers of startups and tech can look at BuiltIn
- Those north of 50 might like AARP’s board (you may need to join the org)
- Eco job-seekers can check out GreenJobsNetwork and GreenJobs
- Animal-lovers might like Animal Advocacy Career
- People who are seeking federal jobs should register and apply on USAJobs
This is, of course, far from a complete list, but hopefully it’s a start for you. Do you have any particular favorites to add? Put them in the comments! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
